Lead Items On Hand. The items listed on this page are salvaged lead items from different sources. They range from poured bars for your own fabricating needs to finished products. Materials will be described to the best of my ability and there will be "No" guarantee on exact purity's or content. Just a few quick words about processing and storing Lead. In the picture to the left you see what I call "Mine Bars", also as you can see I have them sealed and wrapped in plastic. When ever I process a batch of lead, I always do this to prevent the lead from getting oxidized, and dirty. It ends up making for a MUCH cleaner melt the next time the lead is melted. Even though lead does not rust, it still oxidizes in the open air. Keeping and storing your lead like this reduces the amount of dross you have the next time you melt it, the less dross you have the better!! |

) Click For Larger View (Mine Bars) Mine bars composition is approx., 0.25% Sn Tin, 3.0% Sb Antimony, 96.75% Pb Lead (and other trace elements) with a hardness of approx., 12 BHN. I melt and clean this material 2 times, then I wrap it in plastic for storage to reduce oxidation. Material is clean enough and suitable for sinkers, buckshot, or other shot, bullets, etc.. I use this to cast my buckshot. It should not be used for shotgun slugs as it is probably to hard. Bars average 12 to about 14 ozs.,each. Price...$1.75 per 1 pound. |
) Click For Larger View (Triple Clean Bars) Triple clean bars composition is approx., 0.25% Sn Tin, 3.0% Sb Antimony, 96.75% Pb Lead (and other trace elements) with a hardness of approx., 12 BHN. I melt and clean this material 2 times, then I melt, flux, and clean a 3rd time. It is stored plastic to reduce oxidation, this reduces dross when re-melting. Material is very clean and suitable for all casing except shotgun slugs as it is probably to hard. Bars average 14-3/4 ozs., each. This is what I use to cast my own personal bullets.
